Case Competitions For Students

July 1, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here is a list of 5 reason that a company should post a case competition for students.

1. Students when challenged with a cool case competition can deliver some really great ideas. For instance, what should Disney’s next ride be? Why not make it a case competition. Think about all the incredible ideas that an engineering student could come up with.

2. Students talk about case competitions. This talk or buzz can mean big business for your brand. If apple posted a case competition about how to design their next computer a student who is working on it would definitely mention it to his parent, faculty, and other students.

3. Case competitions are a great way to drive before you buy. An organization can see how a student works. And not just what their work product looks like, but how they attack the case competition is probably similar to how they attack an actual problem at work.

4. Case competitions put numbers on creativity and original thinking. Something, that was just not possible before. With numbers associated with these characteristics, organizations can then hire based on a new set of rules. Every organization out there is looking for ways to dominate the market for innovators, but none know the characteristics of innovators. We have to know those characterisitics in order to make informed decisions.

Overall, case competitions are a great way to involve students with your brand. It is a terrific way to market your business, come up with ideas, and find/evaluate job candidates.
