Internship And Entry Level Job Formula

July 3, 2009 · Leave a Comment

What would happen if you had to quantify how you would hire a student? You could only use numbers to select an intern or an entry level hire. Internships and entry level hires are very important- I am done arguing this, smart Human Resource people get this.

Only numbers to find interns and entry level hires. What does this look like. I think it is some type of combination or these factors: grade point average, SAT score, number of internships, number of projects work on, number of campus group involvement, number of leadership roles in these campus groups, projects worked on for company, cases won for the company, facebook friends, twitter followers, youtube viewers, and what else? Would these numbers lead to the best students receiving the best internships and entry level jobs.

This formula is important because it allows an organization to measure. If you aren’t metrics driven, you will lose. Google actually implemented an algorithm that they made hires from. Sounds interesting and I would love to see it. Data doesn’t lie, a question about “Where do you see yourself in 5 years does.” We must continue to strive in order to find data that makes a business case around who and how to hire.

Internships and entry level jobs are important and so are filling these with the best students.
